Biography

As well as her club & festival work, Melody is the only official DJ to the restaurant chain Nando’s; who regularly hold both secret gigs and mini festivals throughout the UK. Melody’s performances at the ‘Nando’s GigNic Festivals’ were featured on the Chanel 4 TV show ‘Gig Nics’.

DJ Melody Kane has gained a solid reputation amongst her peers in the music industry as being one of the most professional, talented & focused female DJ’s in the UK. Her performances have been seriously tearing up sound systems, being one of the few female DJ’s who spins on vinyl, hosts herself on the mic and has some serious technical mixing ability.

Melody has a monthly mix-show residency on the world famous BBC Radio 1Xtra & has also made several guest appearances on their sister station BBC Radio 1, where she has been commissioned to create bespoke mixes for the likes of Charlie Sloth, Mista Jam & Tim Westwood. Both Rinse FM & Capital Xtra have also featured specialist mixes from Melody & in 2013 she was nominated for an OMA (Official Mixtape Award).

Melody has appeared on line-ups amongst some of the industries biggest names including; Snoop Dogg, 2Chainz, Tinnie Tempah, A$AP Rocky, Professor Green, Ms Dynamite, Jessie J, Example, Flo Rida & Black Eyes Peas to name just a few, playing to crowds up to 70,000 strong.

Melody’s profile has been raised further by being the only official DJ at the 2013 MOBO Awards (broadcast on BBC3), where she performed on the main stage at the SSE Hydro to a who’s who of the music industry. She was also flown out to Atlanta, Georgia for the A3C Music Festival for the Best of British Showcase.

Melody is the founder & creator of ‘Melody Kane Sound Xchange, a movement which showcases MC’s and Artists from both established and next generation Urban acts. Due to the movement’s success in the capital, 2013 saw the first UK Tour, hitting major cities throughout the country & making several European appearances. It also led to Melody making a special appearance on BBC Radio 1 as part of their 2014 International Women’s Day Schedule.

Whether it’s her killer mixes, radio broadcasts, live showcases, club & festival appearances or at her international performances in Jamaica, Dubai, USA, Thailand & Europe – DJ Melody Kane always delivers – she is not your usual female DJ. She can actually mix & blend as well as the next guy, rather than just try to look cute in the DJ booth.
